A Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branch in Plymouth, Massachusetts partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to honor two local U.S. veterans. Along with a donation, the Plymouth branch held a residential housing “boot camp” to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to best handle the home-purchase needs of active duty military members and veterans.
One of the honorees was a 35-year veteran of the Army National Guard. Fairway and AWI presented this veteran with a grant to complete the training of her service dog. The second honoree was a 17-year Army veteran to whom Fairway and AWI presented a family grant of $5,000.
Co-founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage. AWI seeks to ease U.S. veterans’ transition from military to civilian life.
Branch manager Eric Thorban had a fantastic experience helping host the Plymouth event. He said:
“This is my second AWI event that I have been a part of, and the impact it had on me was not diminished one bit! What Louise and Sean do time after time is remarkable. Their cause and message leave all who hear it better off as Americans.”
Branch manager David Morgan loves being involved in these AWI events. He said:
“The AWI event in Plymouth, Massachusetts in early November was the second Realtor boot camp that our branch has been a part of, and what struck me again this year was the sheer passion that Louise Thaxton projects when she talks about serving veterans. In an area of the country where there isn’t a tremendous amount of military bases, real estate agents can become complacent about how to properly and ethically serve our veterans, because it just isn’t a large part of their clientele. Then Louise starts her presentation and you can literally feel the energy of the real estate agents explode in the room. The feedback that I get from the agents is simple: It is the best CE course that they have ever been to!”
I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can help answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loan options, please give me a call.Tags: Veterans
